Caerffili and District Twinning Association
For those of you who have, in the past, expressed an interest, the Twinning Association is now looking for volunteer hosts to accommodate French visitors from the twin town of Lannion in Brittany from
Friday 14 July to Tuesday 28 July 2026.
Hosts are expected to provide bed and breakfast and other occasional picnics and meals depending on the entertainment programme arranged.
The usual routine is that visits alternate, one year the French visit
Caerphilly, the following year a coach from Caerphilly visits Lannion.
Hosts can decide how many guests they can cope with and don't have to
spend every day with their visitors.
The association has a website,
caerphillytwinning.co.uk
(click News on the index)
or more information can be obtained by emailing this website
info@caerphillyramblers.org
or from the twinning membership secretary
secretarycdta@hotmail.com.
Several members of the ramblers are, or have been, members of the
twinning.
Knowledge of French is not essential but a bit of French adds to the
fun. Don't worry if you're new to twinning, you'll get advice and, if
you need it, help.
Annual General Meeting
Caerphilly Golf Club, Mountain Road
Thursday 16 October, 2025
A revised Constitution was agreed at the AGM and this is now shown on the menu tab "Constitution".
New Health & Safety Officer
The new Health & Safety Officer is Wendy Parfitt.
Walk leaders should still retain their risk assessment forms for three
years. In case of an accident or reportable incident, contact Wendy.
Relaxation of Booking Requirements
While booking your place on a walk is still strongly advised, it is no longer essential. If you do not book, however, you risk missing late changes to starting point or time, or even cancellation.
These changes are often shown on the website but this cannot be guaranteed.
Some leaders may insist on booking on the walks programme.
Simplified Risk Assessment Procedures
Walk leaders are still required to complete a risk assessment form for each walk. They are no longer required to send a copy to the association's Health and Safety Officer, unless an incident occurs during the walk. In that event, the form should be submitted as soon as possible, together with a report of the incident. Walk leaders should keep copies of their forms for at least three years to ensure compliance with the association's insurance conditions.
Risk assessment
For walk leaders, a pdf version of the risk assessment
form is available on-line.
